My client is an expanding multi-disciplinary design consultancy which is engaged in all aspects of engineering including building structures, highways, traffic and transportation, infrastructure, water, rail, power & environment. It has over 1000 staff on its workforce and is looking for YOU to join its expanding team. The role that my client is looking to fill is for a Traffic / Infrastructure Engineer to work in the Plymouth office. The salary for this unique post is £25-30k (depending on skills & attributes).

The work that my client undertakes is council work and framework agreements; they do this for lots of the major councils including Torbay. To apply for this role my client is looking for previous experience ideally within councils, including ideally experience within re-signalisation specifically on junctions.

This role is important to the company as it is giving leading engineering support to the growing local traffic/ infrastructure team. My client is looking for someone who is mature, & able to bring ideas to the team and broaden the delivery to existing and new clientele. Responsibilities include feasibly studies, preliminary & details design of highway traffic & infrastructure including drainage, 2 & 3D deign of highway works including earthwork modeling. The role includes cost estimating, bill & contract document preparation and site supervision/ contract administration. Site visits & client meetings & liaison with sub contractors come as part of the role also.

To apply for this role you must have the following skills & attributes, as below:-

• Graduate in Civil Engineering (BEng or MEng, or close to achieving chartered status - IHT or ICE. This is required due to the nature of the role)
• Extensive experience with AutoCAD & 3d modeling packages - eg. PD or Keyterra Firma desirable or drainage design using Micro drainage
• Excellent communication skills and local knowledge and contacts
• Previous experience of Highway Authority work and/ or work with a local authority would be an advantage.
• Ideally locally based so that has a full understanding of the market place and how it works
• Must have the ability to assign work to CAD team as required.
• Must have the ability to carry out costing exercises.
• Must have the ability to use CAD
• Previous experience in dealing with client meetings, site visits, and sub consultants & statutory authorities.
