Job Description:

An opportunity exists for a commercial manager with excellent communication skills to manage all commercial and profitability aspects of a major account within the Defence sector. The  successful applicant will have a base at one site within the South West Prime Contract, but will be expected to spend a significant amount of time at each of the contract locations depending on operational requirements.  You will manage a QS and support the Account Director.  In addition you will be expected to contribute commercial expertise that will have a direct influence on the commercial performance of the business with particular emphasis on contract profitability.  A natural communicator you will relish the opportunity to build close relationships with the business.

 

This role will include a variety of tasks including the following:

 

  • Accurate and timely production of the month end CVR  reports and forecasts for the Account Director
  • Establish and manage relationships with the Finance Manager to enable accurate and timely reports on contract performance, profitability and comparisons with budgets to be produced
  • Analysis of the results to highlight risks and opportunities to improve profitability
  • Implementation of actions to improve performance and assist in the development of new processes and procedures
  • Production of account specific sales and GP reports and outturn forecasts to support the account Director
  • Identify, produce and agree contract changes and variations on a monthly basis
  • Manage the contract QS
  • Support and lead commercial negotiations with the client's commercial team
  • Manage and resolve commercial disputes
  • Building strong and influential relationships with the business and it's clients by providing an added value service

Qualifications and Experience - essential and desirable

  • Commercial experience preferably in a MOD maintenance or contract environment
  • Customer focused
  • Proven track record of delivery and managing tight deadlines
  • Excellent communicator with ability to communicate commercial information to non-commercial colleagues
